Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, is the third largest city of Australia. It is positioned on the south-eastern part of Queensland and sits on the Brisbane River. The people who settled in the region first were the Turrbal who had migrated to this region crossing the Torres Strait. They called the place “Mian-jin” which means place shaped as a spike. However, the city was named after Sir Thomas Brisbane who was the governor of New South Wales from 1821 to 1825.
